Welcome to Fuchsia Shaw – an independent womenswear label by designer Amy Shaw.
Making our debut in the summer of 2018, our Hackney-based label is focused on creating clothes for conscious women like you who want to step away from the high street and shop styles that recognise and appreciate the true art of garment design and construction – clothes that are made to last.
Produced in limited runs with fresh fabrics you’ll struggle to spot elsewhere, each collection features cool, contemporary pieces that will effortlessly transcend season to season, so you can treasure them for years to come.
Think a curated mix of androgynous shapes, sleek silhouettes and beautiful to-the-touch feminine fabrics to bring you a collection of chic, fashion-forward garments you’ll wear from AM to PM.
These are clothes to love, spark joy and empower you to feel incredible every single time you reach for them in your wardrobe.
Behind the label
Hello! I’m Amy, the designer and founder of Fuchsia Shaw.
Having my own label was always a dream of mine and after spending my teens sewing, I went on to study Costume Design & Making at Nottingham Trent University. There, I fell in love with the art of garment design and construction and whilst studying and after graduating, I worked on as many productions as possible to learn more. I was lucky enough to work with both theatrical costumiers and fashion stylists and I also had the opportunity to work as the Costume Designer on a feature length film too.
In my spare time, I’d practise sewing and creating my own clothes and after making a dress one day, I put it up for sale on Depop. It sold instantly and the girl who bought it messaged me soon after delivery asking if I could make her another one. I then went into making and selling full time, focusing mostly on swimwear and when this started to sell out, it gave me the confidence I needed to start my own line of womenswear.
The essence of Fuchsia Shaw has developed from my own beliefs and attitude; as somebody who collects clothes to keep and treasure, it’s really important to me that my collections feature pieces that embrace the same values I have for loving your clothes and wearing them over and over.
As a fashion content creator too, I really do find inspiration all around. I definitely take note of 90’s/00s references and I love to experiment and mix up feminine and masculine fits to create the kind of wearable street aesthetic I myself love to wear – comfortable, contemporary classics – with a twist.
It’s honestly the best feeling to see my designs out in the real world and I get a serious pinch me moment every single time. So thank you for stopping by and supporting Fuchsia Shaw, I hope you love the label as much as I do.
